NaPoWriMo Day Five

So I was talking to myself at work the other day and one of my coworkers commented on it.  I explained to them that sometimes it’s the only way to get a decent conversation.  This poem comes from that discussion.

ME, MYSELF & ALL THE REST

I hear a voice within my head
Just one amongst the crowd.
They talk and fight and laugh and cry
Sometimes they get so loud.

The chaos in my head is strange
To other folk than me.
But they don’t hear the things I hear
Nor see the things I see.

The voices show me wondrous things
When I’m asleep at night.
Sometimes the dreams they bring to me
Give me an awful fright.

Sometimes they tell me to shut up
When what I’d say is wrong.
I argue but most times I find
They were right all along.

So when I’m talking to myself
Don’t say “No, not again!”
It’s just me and the bits of my
Big happy, fractured brain.

Cheers, Winston
