NO JUSTICE

I am the Law and I care not

For what is wrong or right.

I answer only to myself.

Care not for oversight,

No justice here, for justice is

A subtle, fickle thing.

The Law cares not for subtlety

Morality is king.

And i don’t care whose Morals are

Enshrined in every line.

The Law’s the Law, so says the Law,

And all the power’s mine.

So if you ever stand before

My lofty bench and seek,

For justice know the Law is strong,

But juries may be weak,

What Am I Doing?

I mean really… What the heck am I thinking. I made it through April by the skin of my teeth, yet here I am writing another verse. Sometimes I really wonder about me.

Our Own Worst Enemy

Technology is not the foe,

it’s not your enemy.

That AI that you dread so much,

is far less threat than me.

The science that grows beef in labs,

and soy that bugs won’t eat.

Is building apps to help the blind,

and other needs to meet.

It’s not the tech that ends us all,

but what we do with it.

It’s our own inhumanity,

will make our future shit.

A hammer’s just a hammer and,

can’t care what it’s used for.

The person using it decides,

to build or start a war.

All tech comes down to this same choice,

that shapes our future days.

To kill or cure, to build or burn,

I pray we change our ways.

Cheers, Winston

NaPoWriMo Day 18

Currently, I’m well over halfway through this round of NaPoWriMo. Predictably, my mental batteries are starting to run a bit low. But hey… I’m still in there swinging.

Doomsday?

There are rumours about a war,

that may come to us soon.

It’s times like these I wish I lived,

on Mars or on the Moon.

One idiot decides to try,

to show strong they are.

Another fool just has to prove,

that they will go as far.

The troops are set, the planes in flight,

and all the ships at sea.

They’re dreaming dreams of glory but,

more death is all there’ll be.

While millions starve and millions more,

have watched their children die.

These “leaders” talk on our TVs,

and all they do is lie.

“Our enemies, they must be stopped,

for they are evil men.”

But we have heard this all before,

will hear it all again.

I pray that it will pass once more,

that tensions will decline.

But never have there been such fools,

our future to define.

So pray for all if praying’s what,

you think will save the day.

And maybe when folks vote again,

they’ll send these fools away.

Cheers, Winston

NaPoWriMo Day 5

Yes, I know that I’m posting this on day 6. At least it’s getting posted, so half-marks for that.

Be Here Now

We spend so much of every day,

caught up inside our head.

Dwelling still upon the past,

or planning far ahead.

But all the time we spend like that,

is time we are not here.

This present now is all we have,

and we should hold it dear.

Each time we think of all we’ve had,

we throw our now away.

And as we dream of what we want,

we miss out on today.

I do not say you should not plan,

or should forget the past.

Just do not give your life to them,

it’s now, be here at last.

Right now as you are reading this,

your mind is far away.

Thinking of all the other things,

that you will do today.

But you are here and it is now,

live in this time you’re in.

When you are with the ones you love,

then wandering’s a sin.

They are what is most important,

not what was said at work.

The person who is here with you,

is not your boss (That jerk!).

So don’t give past the power to,

destroy your now as well.

For re-living your pains each day,

is like a mini hell.

So be here now, be when you are,

take back your life today.

For here and now come round but once,

It’s where we all should stay.

Cheers, Winston

NaPoWriMo Day 4

So Canada turns 150 this year! Here is my first tribute to the country that I am privileged to call home.

Canada 150

One hundred-fifty years ago,

my Canada began.

It’s dream of freedom and of peace,

a continent did span.

And now we stand here looking back,

at just how far we’ve come.

With some things we have come quite far,

and dropped the ball on some.

We are diverse, a varied lot,

who rarely can agree.

We argue, shout and brawl and such,

but no one shoots at me.

And half the time near half of us,

they want to leave the rest.

But then they slowly realize,

together, we’re the best.

So wave a flag and raise a pint,

to this grand land we share.

And if you doubt it is the best,

go try your luck elsewhere.

NaPoWriMo Day 3

It’s late and I should be in bed, buuuuuut…… this should just take a minute.

Seek a Different Path

The dance begins, the battle joined,

the words cut just like knives.

We know that we should just let go,

this is not worth our lives.

But we can’t just forget the hurts,

keep living in the past.

Can’t now recall who started this,

nor how long it will last.

But we are right of this we’re sure,

about what we don’t know.

They must be wrong of course they are,

else we’d not hate them so.

Our fathers hated so we hate,

for what else can we do?

This is how it’s always been,

of course it must be true.

But there are those who seek a change,

who seek a diff’rent way.

Some day they hope to stop the hate,

seek peace for all they say.

I do not know what that would be,

I’ve dreamt of it I think.

But peace is such a fragile thing,

may vanish if you blink.

So we go on, seek victory,

it’s what we think we need.

We claim to love the ones we hurt,

then weep to see them bleed.

It’s what we’ve learned, it’s what we teach,

but we can learn new things.

Not bound forever by the past,

it’s hope the future brings.

Cheers, Winston

Morality For The Lost

Morality For The Lost

A demon danced in dead man’s shoes,
His face turned to the rain.
An angel raged on through the night,
Adrift on seas of pain.

A babe new born an orphan lost,
Alone and powerless.
A demon too far gone to curse,
The angel cannot bless.

The babe, a child, grows up alone,
Ward of a careless state.
And still the demon dances on,
The angel curses fate.

The child becomes a young man now,
Most think he has no chance.
He’s seen the angel, knows his rage,
Has learned the demon’s dance.

He’s done some bad, he’s done some good,
He’s learned what’s right and wrong.
It isn’t what you do but why,
That drags your soul along.

A demon dances in the rain,
He wears a young mans face.
And those who see him watch in awe,
Angelic rage and grace.

He sees no absolutes in life,
In terms of wrong or right.
To him there’s only shades of grey,
Invisible at night.

Cheers, winston

NAPOWRIMO Day 30

Commonality

So I believe and know this truth,
I am the same as you.
Not in the way I speak or look
Nor in the things I do.

It’s what we are that is the same,
This we should keep in mind.
And understand the falseness of,
Divisions that you find.

What matter gender, race or creed,
We dream our dreams as one.
To love and laugh and live our lives,
Content when we are done.

So next time someone does you wrong,
Think on your own mistakes.
Remember  They are You and I,
Be kind for all our sakes.

Cheers, Winston

NAPOWRIMO Day 27

The End Is Pricey

Beware! Beware! The end is near!
It’s nearly here I swear.
A doom, a doom is coming soon,
It’s doomy everywhere,

With doom and gloom and worse in store,
Trust me the end is nigh.
With all that is about to end,
What cause have I to lie?

I did not ask to see these things
I did not ask for fame.
Just buy my books and videos,
To learn more of my claim.

Economies are going to crash,
The terrorists arrive.
With plagues and famines, wars and such,
Most people won’t survive.

But in my books I’ll show you how,
To make it through the end.
I’ll help you prep to face it all,
So buy my vids my friend.

I’ve got the kit, the bugout bags,
For you and all your kin.
So buy your gear and guns and such,
You’ve got to spend to win.

Don’t worry if the end’s not yet,
It’s coming any day.
So hurry now and start your prep,
As long as you can pay.

Cheers, Winston

NAPOWRIMO Day 26

Soldiers’ Lament

For glory and for honour and,
To uphold what is right,
These are the answers given when,
They ask us why we fight.

They  point to battles fought and won,
To tyrants we’ve destroyed.
Talk like we’re saving everyone,
Each time we are deployed.

No longer are things black or white,
The wars have gotten grey.
Who’s in the right, who’s in the wrong,
Now changes every day.

We do our best to do it right,
Trust those who ship us out.
But when you read between the lines,
Sometimes can’t help but doubt,

But still we stand and still we serve,
And still we question not.
And when we’ve given everything,
We’re tossed aside. Forgot.

Cheers, Winston
