Just got home from a great day at the Ottawa Comiccon. Yup, I’m that geek. The point is, my wife and daughter were also out (Somewhere else) so our dog was home alone watching TV. I got here just in time to be with him during a thunderstorm. That led to today’s verse.
My Lonely Friend
A dog alone stares at the door,
And prays his doggy prayer.
That Mom and Dad will soon return
For they are out somewhere.
It’s not that he is all alone,
They have gone out before.
He likes to chill and watch TV,
But this is something more.
A storm is near the thunder comes,
Poor pup is really scared.
He knows they’d be home if they could,
Now worries how they fared,
The rain is falling harder now,
He hears it on the pane,
And all his deepest terrors now,
Run rampant through his brain.
The thunder booms then booms again,
He’s quaking now with fear.
The thunder and the rain so loud,
No car door can he hear.
But even though he heard it not,
A car is in the drive.
And then he hears the front door key,
Now his family arrive.
If he were human tears of joy,
Would cascade down his face.
But he’s a dog so he just barks,
And jumps about the place.
So when your dog is hyper when,
You have been gone a while.
Remember it’s because you’re missed,
And you are loved so smile!
Cheers, Winston
