Things I Could’ve Said

Is it better to regret sometimes a thing that we have said

or words that sit still on our tongue

and live within our head

There’s times that I have said a thing caused hurt which was not meant

Yet other times I’ve held my tongue

‘til every chance is spent.

With words I’ve spoken there’s a chance I can try to explain

Unspoken words, their moment passed

these can bring only pain

I wish that I had told you then how much you meant to me

Our laughter and our rambling talks

now that you’re gone, I see

I always thought there’d be more time, that is the saddest part

Keep all the things I could have said forever in my heart.
