NaPoWriMo 2026 Day 13

Why Summer Matters Here

Summer does not mean the same

To those in warmer climes

But here where winter seems the rule

We live for those brief times

All winter long we curse the dark

Then too we curse the cold

Once summer comes, we curse the heat

And bask in light of gold.

All life comes out to celebrate

While that season is here

But all to soon, the summer fades

We count down to next year.

If winter’s not a thing you face

I’m quite happy for you

But sadly you can’t understand

What summer means it’s true.

Cheers,
