NaPoWriMo Day 15
Sounds of Life
Water gurgling gently over mossy stones
before plashing into a small pool
Leaves rustling as a breeze sighs
gently through the wood
The quick knocking of a woodpecker looking
a quick meal ‘neath thick bark
Dragonflies hum busily in pursuit
of mosquitos
A dozen different songbirds fill the air
with whistles, calls and songs
The sudden whap of a beaver’s
tail on a nearby pond
These and a million others like them
are the soundtrack of my youth
Now I live an urban life
rare beauty, mainly noise.
Cheers,
