NaPoWriMo 2026 Day 28
The Lost Ritual
There deep within the sacred wood
Are runes carved deep in stone
Where once an ancient priestess sang
To spirits now unknown.
I sought it out that long lost glade
With pool clear and deep
Saw flowers deck those holy stones
While they, their secrets keep.
What profound rites were practiced here
In that age gone by?
What tales they’d tell, and tell they would
But not to such as I.
I do not know the words or signs
Can’t coax that place to stir
No sounds now but some distant bird
An insects gentle whir.
The ritual is long forgot
But power lingers still
Though none now live to summon it,
I pray it always will.
Cheers,
