NaPoWriMo Day 19
Today’s challenge was to write a poem about a minor god of something mundane. I am a huge fan of the Discworld books by the late Terry Pratchett. One of those books is called “Small Gods”. It is all about religious tyranny and humans doing very human-like things indeed.
Also… go read at least one of Terry Pratchett’s books. The man was a brilliant social commentator and his books a utterly hilarious
The god Of Going Forth At One On Saturday
I am the god of going forth
At one on Saturday
To get a few things from the shop
The one just down the way
“God, I hope the shop’s not packed.”
It’s me you’re talking to
You add you hope it doesn’t rain
I’ll see what I can do
I don’t control the weather see,
Just going forth at one
But that God is my Mum”s uncle
I’ll see what can be done
It’s not an easy life to be
A god of minor stuff
Don’t even get a capital
Some days it is so tough
My break is done and now I must
Go scurry back to work
My boss, a God of minor gods
Is such an awful jerk
Cheers,
