NaPoWriMo Day 24
Precious Breath
Breath in, breath out, the body’s tide
So seldom thought about.
To breath is automatic when
You’re healthy there’s no doubt
We do it from the day we’re born
Until our final one.
We rarely truly think of it
Like thinking ‘bout the sun.
The only time we pay it mind
Is when we are forced to.
When all of the benign neglect
Adds up what do we do?
We gasp and wheeze and curse and cry,
We swear that we will change.
We promise if we’re spared this fate
Our life will rearrange.
Breath in, breath out, breath with me now
Be here, feel each soft flow.
And understand this fragile thing
Take care now that you know.
Cheers,
