For My Granddaughter

Good morning my most precious one

I wish you joy this day

May blessings find you through your life

To help you on your way.

May happiness outweigh each hurt

May peace outweigh your pain

May good times teach you gratitude

From problems, wisdom gain.

I wish you friends who stand by you

Right there through all your years

And may the ones that do not last

More smiles leave than tears.

Of tears I’m sure you’ll have your share

I’d spare you if I could

But keeping you from every hurt

Means you’d miss every good.

Know when you hurt and tears come down

Your Grandpa will be here

And even when one day I’m gone

Still will always be near

So live your life most precious one

This world is yours to make

Can’t wait to see who you become

With each new step you take.
